College Football Awards: Torrey Smith Among Four Maryland Players On All-ACC First Team

Torrey Smith's 2010 season ended with a major bang, as the junior wide receiver put up a record-setting 14-catch, 224-yard, four-touchdown line in Saturday's win over N.C. State. That performance has officially propelled Smith to the all-ACC first team.

The team was announced today, and Smith was one of four Maryland players on it. The other three players on the first team were senior linebacker Alex Wujciak, junior safety Kenny Tate and junior returner Tony Logan. Wujciak and Smith were preseason all-ACC selections. Wujciak was an all-ACC first-team player in 2009 and a second-team all-ACC player in 2008, while Smith was a second-team all-ACC player in 2009.

Sophomore defensive lineman Joe Vellano was a second-team all-ACC player, while senior offensive lineman Paul Pinegar was an honorable-mention selection. Quarterback Danny O'Brien was nowhere to be found on the all-ACC teams, despite winning his fifth ACC Rookie of the Week award this week.
