I have no idea how many Georgetown fans reside in Chicago. It's probably way more than I would think, considering the team has a very national fanbase despite being a hyper-local team. But I do know this: Georgetown seems to have some fans out there that you might not expect.↵
Because according to this article, Georgetown made Complex's list of the top 10 most gang-affiliated hats in sports, checking in at number nine. The reason? A Chicago-area gang known as Gangster Disciples (part of the larger Folk Nation gang alliance) has adopted the Hoya logo as it's own. Unofficially, of course.
The gear honors the gang's founder Robert Hoover, and commemorates the phrase "Hoover's On Your A**," which I'm guessing is something members say when another gang member has screwed up. Actually, I have no idea what it means, and I shouldn't even speculate. All I know is that the acronym of that phrase is "Hoya," just like Georgetown's nickname.↵
I wonder if the school enjoys the free publicity they gets on the streets of Chicago.↵
