NFL Preseason: Ravens Lead The Redskins 13-3 After The First Half

The Washington Redskins started this one off quickly, scoring on their first drive courtesy of a Graham Gano 25-yard field goal.

The points were set up by a beautiful 45-yard reception by Anthony Armstrong who continues to make a strong case for making the team’s final 53-man roster.

The Redskins converted a pair of third and long situations on the drive. Santana Moss made a 13-yard catch on 3rd-and-seven while Chris Cooley snagged a Donovan McNabb pass to move the chains on 3rd-and-14.

McNabb threw a pass behind Armstrong on 3rd-and-goal to bring out the kicking team.

The Ravens answered with a26 -yard field goal of their own by Billy Cundiff tying the score at three apiece.

The Ravens had taken the ball inside the Redskins’ ten, but the drive stalled when Derrick Mason was stopped four yards short of the marker on third down.

The Redskins committed two penalties on the drive and Andre Carter dropped a pass tipped in the air by Ravens fullback Le’Ron McClain.

The Ravens added a TD on their next drive after a direct snap to safety Haruki Nakamura on fourth down led to a 51-yard scamper down to the Redskins’ one-yard line. The Ravens scored on the subsequent play as Willis McGahee pounded it in to give the Ravens a 10-3 lead.

Taking over for starter Joe Flacco, Ravens QB Mark Bulger completed five throws in a two-minute offense en route to another Billy Cundiff field goal. This time the kick came from 41 yards out and extended the Ravens’ lead to ten points, 13-3.

Mike Sellars, LaRon Landry and Kareem Moore were all shaken up in the first half. Each was attended to by trainers on the field and all three walked off under their own power.

Landry returned to the game shortly after his injury. Reed Doughty replaced Moore at free safety. Moore injured his right knee and his return is questionable.
