Redskins Trade Dennis Morris To Rams, Acquire Hall Davis In Separate Trade

The Redskins have finalized their trade with the St. Louis Rams, and it actually ended up being two trades. In one trade, they sent tight end/fullback Dennis Morris to the Rams for a conditional draft pick. In another, they sent a different conditional draft pick to the Rams for defensive end/linebacker Hall Davis.

Report: Redskins May Receive Hall Davis From Rams In Dennis Morris Trade

We may soon know what kind of compensation the Redskins will receive in return for tight end/fullback Dennis Morris. The Redskins are reportedly evaluating the merits of receiving defensive end/linebacker Hall Davis from the Rams in the trade, according to TBD's Mike Jones.

This does not mean they have finalized the trade, but we at least have an idea of where the Redskins are leaning.

Davis was St. Louis' fifth-round pick (149 overall) this year. He played his college ball at Louisiana-Lafayette and was projected by many to go as high as the fourth round in the draft. Here's more on him from SB Nation's Rams blog Turf Show Times.

When asked about the trade, Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said it doesn't make sense to keep a rookie, suggesting that "the worst thing people do is keep a draft pick just to keep a draft pick."

Redskins Trade Tight End Dennis Morris To Rams

The Redskins already have Chris Cooley and Fred Davis, but they could use a blocking tight end to replace the departed Todd Yoder. Evidently, that person will not be rookie Dennis Morris.

Why? Morris, the team's sixth-round pick this year, has been traded to the St. Louis Ramsaccording to John Keim of the Washington Examiner. Coach Mike Shanahan confirmed the move today, saying Morris wasn't going to make the team anyway.

It remains unclear what the Redskins will receive in the trade.
