DC-area tidbits in small bites
There are a lot of reasons that Wizards fans love new owner Ted Leonsis. Here's another one they can add to the list.
As expected, the Wizards announced they would officially hold training camp at George Mason University. We knew they would open on September 28. What we didn't know is that they would open literally right as the clock turned on September 28.
That's right: the Wizards are holding a "Midnight Madness" practice. Via a team press release.
The Midnight Madness practice will begin at 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 28, and will feature player introductions, an open practice, giveaways, ticket offers for regular season Wizards games and special incentives for George Mason students. Doors for the Midnight Madness practice will open at 11:00 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 27.
If memory serves me, this is the first time an NBA team has done a "Midnight Madness," which is kind of crazy if you think about it. Kudos to Leonsis and the team for a great hook to generate even more buzz about the team.

Ted is THE best
owner that DC has ever had. Snyder, the Lerner’s and others should take a course from him about how to listen to the fans, how to create a team culture and how to communicate. March Madness is brilliant!

Odd thing is...
George Mason don’t hold their Midnight Madness at 12 a.m., so this will be the only true Midnight Madness at the Patriot Center.
