Maryland guard Pe'Shon Howard broke his foot in practice and could miss up to three months of action, a huge blow for an already thin Terps basketball team.

The Maryland Terrapins were already going to be a very thin team without a lot of depth this year, and they just suffered a pretty sizable blow to their backcourt. According to a press release sent out by the School, sophomore guard Pe'Shon Howard has broken his foot and could miss as many as three months.

“I feel bad for Pe’Shon,” said Turgeon. “He worked so hard and had a great summer and early fall. He’s been practicing and playing well for us. Hopefully, we’ll get a lot better by the time Pe’Shon joins the team later this year.”

Howard was going to pair with fellow guard Terrell Stoglin to form a backcourt that was supposed to be the team's strength in this transitional year. Without Howard on the floor Stoglin will likely have to play point guard, which means the whole team might suffer because Stoglin is a shoot-first guy while Howard is a very talented distributor.

Howard averaged 5.4 points and just over three assists per game last year in 18.5 minutes per game. But he was playing behind Adrian Bowie at the point for much of the year last year and was expected to play a much larger role in the offense this year.

Without Howard, the Terps will likely turn to freshman shooting guard Nick Faust to help fill in. Faust is not a point guard by any means, but he could play next to Terrell Stoglin in what would be a very talented and offensively prolific backcourt.
