Southern Miss Vs. Navy Score Update: Golden Eagles Soar, 63-35

After keeping a hefty lead the entire game, Southern Miss continued to score points in the fourth quarter. Southern Miss scored at least 14 points in every quarter on their route of Navy. Southern Miss quarterback Austin Davis had a near perfect day, completing 21 of 23 passes for 283 yards and three touchdowns.

Navy was without their leading rusher, but they still put up over 400 yards on the ground against Southern Miss. Navy quarterback Kriss Proctor threw for over 100 yards and ran for over 100 yards in the game, but Navy just couldn't get the ball in the endzone until it was too late. Navy scored just 7 points in the first half, compared to 28 points in the second half. By then though, the game was out of reach for Navy's offense.

Southern Miss Vs. Navy Score Update: Southern Miss Pours It On, 49-21

The Southern Miss Golden Eagles opened up the second half by going three-and-out. After the punt, Navy scored on just three plays to bring the score to 35-14. John Howell had a 25-yard run, immediately followed by a 43-yard touchdown pass from Kriss Proctor to Brandon Turner.

On Southern Miss' next drive, the Golden Eagles pounded the football and milked clock until they got to about mid-field. After that, quarterback Austen Davis hit a few passes then picked up 35-yards with his legs to get in the redzone. Davis then hit Kelvin Bolden for a 10-yard touchdown to push their lead 42-14 to cap off the 9 play drive, Davis' third touchdown pass of the day.

Navy got the ball back, needing to answer to have any hopes of staying in the game, but their drive stalled out going just 21 yards on seven plays, including another failed fourth down attempt. After turning it over on downs, Southern Miss put Navy on their heels thanks to the good field position, but wound up turning the ball over when Austen Davis fumbled the ball. Mike Stukel broke free on a 41-yard run on the ensuing Navy possession to get in the redzone. Delvin Diggs punched the ball in for the 1-yard touchdown to bring the score 41-21.

Unfortunately for Navy, Southern Miss returned the kick off 57-yard and two plays later, Quentin Pierce hit Collin Jardo for the 18-yard touchdown pass to further their lead, 49-21.

Southern Miss Vs. Navy Score Update: Golden Eagles Lead 35-7

After going up 14-0 in the first quarter blocking a field goal and completing a 99-yard touchdown drive, the Southern Miss Golden Eagles began another scoring drive on the Navy Midshipmen. The Golden Eagles went 75-yards in 13 plays. Tracey Lamply punched the ball in from 3-yards out to cap off the drive and put Southern Miss up 21-0.

Navy got the ball back and promptly went three-and-out after quarterback Kriss Proctor was sacked for a 10-yard loss. Southern Miss got the ball back and once again drove right down the football field. The Eagles went down the field on six straight rushing plays for 75 yards, then quarterback Austen Davis hit Ryan Hanks for the 5-yard touchdown pass to go up 28-0.

Fortunately for the Midshipment, on their next drive they were able to move the football and get some points on the board. Navy went 70 yards on six straight runs, capped off by a 1-yard touchdown run by John Howell to bring the score to 28-7.

After trading some punts, Southern Miss went right down the field on the arm of Austen Davis. Davis capped off the 58-yard drive with another 5-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Balentine. Southern Miss takes a 35-7 lead into half time.

Southern Miss Vs. Navy Score Update: Southern Miss Up 14-0

After the Navy Mishipmen marched down the field on a 13 play drive that consumed over five minutes on the clock, Southern Miss block the Mids field goal attempt and take it back 79-yards for the touchdown to go up 7-0. On the next drive the Midshipman once again marched right down the football field on a long drive, only to fail the 4th and 1 on the 1-yard line. The Midshipmen took it 76-yards on 13 plays taking another five minutes off the clock to come up empty handed.

Southern Miss took over the ball on the 1-yard line, and wound up going the length of the field to go up on Navy 14-0. The 99-yard drive was assisted by a 77-yard catch and run by Ryan Balentine. Three plays later, Jeremy Hester ran the ball in for the 3-yard touchdown.

Navy Vs. Southern Miss Time, TV Schedule, Announcers And More

The Navy Midshipmen are set to battle the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles. Here is everything you need to know about today's game:

Who: Navy Vs. Southern Mississippi

Where: Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium

When: 3:30 PM ET

TV Information: Tim Brant and Randy Cross have the call on the CBS Sports Network.

Spread: Southern Mississippi by 1.

Last game: Navy suffered a narrow defeat to the Air Force Falcons, 35-34, in overtime, squandering its 18-point comeback in the fourth quarter and falling to 2-2 on the season. Southern Miss, meanwhile, doubled up the Rice Owls, 48-24, to improve to 4-1.

Last season: Saturday's contest represents the first meeting between the Midshipmen and the Golden Eagles in history.

Key absences: Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo suspended Alexander Teich, his team's leader with 408 rushing yards, for an undisclosed, non-felony reason. Teich's absence likely means an even bigger workload for running backs Gee Gee Greene and Mike Patrick. Those two have combined for just 26 carries on the season.

Navy Vs. Southern Miss Odds: Midshipmen Are One Point Dogs

The Navy Midshipmen are coming off a heart breaking loss to the Air Force Falcons last week and are 1 point underdogs to Southern Miss. Against the spread this year, the Midshipmen are 3-1 while the Southern Miss Golden Eagles are 3-2. Navy is coming off two straight losses and will want to right the ship against the Golden Eagles, especially after what happened last week against Air Force.

The over/under for the game is set at 57 points, but both teams average over 30 points per game while both averaging giving up a little over 20 a game. Navy is 3-1 this season at hitting the over/under mark and with coming off two losses, you can bet Navy will want to run their triple option without and personal fouls, which is what cost Navy the game last week.

Navy Vs. Southern Miss: Alexander Teich, Navy's Leading Rusher, Suspended For Game

The Navy Midshipmen will be without senior fullback Alexander Teich as they take on Southern Miss on Saturday. Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo told reporters on Wednesday that Teich is unlikely to play as part of a team disciplinary matter. If Teich doesn't play, which it looks highly likely he won't, the Midshipmen will be playing with two very inexperienced fullbacks.

Teich leads the team with 408 rushing yards and is coming off of a career day against Air Force in the Midshipman's 35-34 overtime loss. Teich ran for 149 yards against the Falcons and is averaging over 5 yards per carry on the season. The senior fullback has started 17 games in his career and looked to be a full time player offensively.

The team did not elaborate on the nature of the suspension, but did not it wasn't a felony. "It's kind of a family, inner-circle deal, and I don't want to disclose too much of what's going on," Niumatalolo told reporters. "You don't want to air dirty laundry, so to speak, because the kid's been an important part of our program. So out of respect for him, I don't want to say what happened."
