Troy Vs. Navy: Midshipmen Look To Snap Skid On Senior Day

37 seniors will play their final home game at Navy this Saturday when the Midshipmen host Troy.

After a promising 2-0 start to the 2011 season, followed by a near upset of South Carolina in Week 3, the Navy Midshipmen have been sinking steadily this past month. Losers of six consecutive games, Navy will try to record its third win of the season when they host Troy this Saturday on Senior Day. Navy is coming off a 56-14 loss at Notre Dame last Saturday, the fourth time in five games that they've allowed an opponent to score 35 or more points.

The Trojans are also on a prolonged losing skid, having dropped their previous three to fall to 2-5 heading into the month of November. The matchup pits the effective passing attack of Troy (286.7 yards per game, 22nd nationally) against Navy's triple-option rushing attack (309.0 yards per game, 5th). The Trojans aren't particularly effective at stopping the run (182.3 yards per game allowed), so perhaps this is the week that Navy manages to keep its defense off the field more regularly.

The Senior Day game will be the last in the careers of Kriss Proctor, Alexander Teich, and Delvin Diggs, the formidable trio that's assumed the lion's share of the rushing duties in Navy's backfield. They are, however, just three of the 37 seniors whose football careers will come to an end this fall.

Kickoff is at 3:30 pm local time from Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland. Head on out to the stadium to support the selfless young men who will go on to serve their country upon completion of their football and academic careers at the Naval Academy.
