Georgetown Vs. UNC-Greensboro: Hoyas Roll At Verizon Center, Improve To 2-0

The Georgetown Hoyas improved to 2-0 after crushing the overmatched UNC-Greensboro Spartans on Monday night. It was an impressive performance at the Verizon Center, as the Hoyas nearly doubled up the Spartans with a final score of 86-45. Georgetown was led by veterans Hollis Thompson and Jason Clark, who each poured in 19 points a piece. Clark was cold from long range as he made only one of seven attempts from behind the arc, and scored his 19 points on 19 attempts from the field. Thompson, on the other hand, did a majority of his scoring from downtown, hitting five threes on the night.

John Thompson III's squad played smothering defense, forcing the Spartans to turn the ball over and shoot below 30% on the evening. Georgetown held Greensboro to only 16 first half points and went into the locker room up 25 - the largest halftime lead since JTIII took over. After ten minutes of play, the game was never in doubt and it was apparent the Hoyas would cruise to their second straight victory to open the season. The easy victory allowed Georgetown to showcase its freshman class, which included another solid performance by Tyler Adams. It now gets tougher, however, as the Hoyas travel west to play in the Maui Invitational. They will face 11th ranked Kansas in one week at the Lahaina Civic Center.
