Stay connected for news and updates

The Caps look for their second win over the Senators in less than a week Wednesday.

Less than a week ago, the Washington Capitals gave Dale Hunter his first win as a NHL head coach in a win over the Ottawa Senators. Wednesday, the Caps will look to give Hunter his second win over the Senators and their second win in their last seven games in a rematch at Scotiabank Place.

Saturday, the Caps defeated the Senators 3-2 when Brooks Laich scored 12 seconds into overtime. The win snapped a four-game skid, but the Caps were back on the losing end Monday in a 5-4 loss to the Florida Panthers. Washington now sits in third place behind the Panthers and Winnipeg Jets in the Southeast Division.

Ottawa defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning Monday, maintaining a two-point lead over Washington in the Eastern Conference standings.

Tomas Vokoun should start Wednesday after Michal Neuvirth allowed five goals Monday, including three in the first period. The statuses of injured forwards Matt Hendricks and Alexander Semin as well as injured defenseman Roman Hamrlik are uncertain.
