It wasn't easy, but the George Mason Patriots clinched the CAA regular season championship in a 67-61 win over the Northeastern Huskies during Senior Night at Patriot Center.
Senior Cam Long had 13 points and nine rebounds, but it was Ryan Pearson's 18 points and 15 rebounds that led Mason to victory. Jonathan Lee had 18 points for Northeastern. Senior Isaiah Tate had five points.
Mason held a 27-22 halftime lead, but the Huskies came back in the second half with a 17-10 run to take a 39-37 lead. Mason tied the game at 44-44 and took the lead for good at 47-44 on a Long three-pointer.
With the win, the Patriots will be the No. 1 seed in next week's CAA Tournament.

The George Mason Patriots will put the nation's longest winning streak on the line and will hope to clinch the CAA in the process against the Northeastern Huskies Thursday.
Mason has won 13 straight and holds a 14-2 mark in the CAA, 1.5 games ahead of Hofstra. The Patriots haven't lost since January 8.
It will also be a sentimental night at the Patriot Center as guards Cam Long and Isaiah Tate will be honored on Senior Night. Long is Mason's leading scorer with 15.1 points per game, while Tate averages 6.4 points per game.
Plenty of comparison has been made between this year's Patriots team and the one that reached the Final Four in 2006. This team, however, has made it clear that they want to forge their own path. A win tonight will put Mason in the right direction.
