Islanders Vs. Capitals: New-Look Caps Face Islanders For Second Time In Four Days

Stay connected for news and updates

The Washington Capitals and New York Islanders played Saturday in a game that the Caps would win by a 3-2 score. Suffice to say, the Islanders will be seeing a much-different Caps team Tuesday when the two teams meet again at Verizon Center.

Monday's trade deadline came and went and with it came three new players. The Caps claimed Marco Sturm off waivers from the Los Angeles Kings Saturday and acquired Dennis Wideman from the Florida Panthers and Jason Arnott from the New Jersey Devils Monday. All three could be in the lineup for Washington Tuesday.

Mike Green, however, will not be in the lineup and won't be for several weeks. After missing several games earlier this month after taking a puck to the head February 6, Green only lasted 2:25 Friday against the New York Rangers before taking a Derek Stepan elbow to the head. Wideman should replace Green for the time being.

Neither team has played since Saturday's game, but Washington has plenty of action ahead. The Caps will play nine games in the next 15 days, including two sets of back-to-back games.
