D.C. United Vs. Columbus Crew: United Kicks Off 2011 Season At RFK Stadium

Stay connected for news and updates

After having the worst season in club history in 2010, D.C. United will try to kick off the 2011 MLS season on the right foot against the visiting Columbus Crew.

United finished the 2010 season with a record of 6-20-4, collecting only 10 of a possible 30 points at home. But RFK Stadium is sure to be rocking tonight as fans pack the aging stands for their first chance to see forward Charlie Davies in his first professional soccer match since recovering from injuries suffered in a car accident in October 2010.

Davies will begin tonight's match on the bench, but seems sure to enter in the second half.

United's opponent tonight is just one year removed from being just a point away from winning the Eastern Conference, but the Crew have undergone a rebuilding process of their own that has seen the departure of club icons Guillermo Barros Schelotto and Frankie Hejduk.

The game kicks off at 7:30 PM and will be broadcast locally on Comcast SportsNet. Fans should be sure to head over to SB Nation's D.C. United blog Black And Red United to discuss in the GameThread.
