VIDEO: Shaka Smart Taking A Charge During VCU's Final Four Practice

Stay connected for news and updates

We talked about how VCU coach Shaka Smart was taking charges and doing the hustle drill during practice on Friday before the team's Final Four game against Butler, but we hadn't seen it actually happen until now. CBS showed a clip of the practice as it came back to commercial, and ... well, here you go.

Now that we've actually seen the clip, it's even more awesome than usual. We're not talking about Smart taking a soft charge or half-heartedly falling down. That's him taking a charge from backup guard Reco McCarter at full speed, then getting up and diving for a loose ball as his entire team chases him down. That's unbelievable.

It bears repeating: if you are a VCU player and you are unwilling to step in and take a charge when your own coach did it during a practice, what does that say about you?

(Thanks to @jose3030 again for the video)
