Boskovic Says He'll Seek Second Opinion Before Undergoing Surgery

Steven Goff of the Washington Post was able to track down Boskovic and worked an update on the Montenegrin's injury into his match report of last night's 4-1 loss to Houston. According to Goff, Boskovic will seek a second opinion before deciding whether or not to undergo surgery on his left knee. If the second opinion matches the original diagnosis, then the midfielder will undergo surgery and likely miss four to six months.

It should be pointed out here that D.C. United President Kevin Payne was not particularly pleased with the tackle that forced Boskovic off the field in Tuesday night's U.S. Open Cup loss to New England. "That was a nasty foul," Payne said, "and I don't think it was a coincidence that Boskovic suffered it."

Boskovic himself, for what it's worth, didn't see much wrong with the challenge, saying "I don’t think he tried to hurt me. The ball was between us and I think it’s not a bad foul."

There was no TV coverage of Tuesday's match, and consequently the best view of the tackle comes from D.C. United's own videos of the match, which can be found here. The tackle itself is at the 2:42 mark, and you can decide for yourself how honest it was.

Branko Boskovic Injury A Torn ACL, D.C. United Midfielder Sidelined Indefinitely

Moments before tonight's match against the Houston Dynamo, D.C. United announced via Twitter that Branko Boskovic, the club's Montenegrin designated player, had been diagnosed with a torn ACL. The club did not immediately make any further details available.

Boskovic originally suffered a left knee injury in the 85th minute of Tuesday night's U.S. Open Cup match against the New England Revolution after scoring both United goals in the 3-2 loss. An initial MRI on the injury came back negative, but Boskovic did not accompany the team to Houston this week.

The 30-year-old Boskovic, who was signed by D.C. United as a Designated Player in June of 2010, has yet to score a goal in 14 league appearances for the Black-and-Red. In his career, he has scored 60 goals in 227 league appearances for Mogren, Red Star Belgrade, Paris Saint-Germain, Troyes, and Rapid Wien. On the international level, Boskovic has scored 2 goals in 30 appearances for both Serbia and Montenegro and Montenegro.
