2011 NCAA Lacrosse Tournament: Maryland Women Rout Navy, 19-6, Advance To Quarterfinals

The top-seeded Maryland Terrapins had little trouble with Navy in the first round of the 2011 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament. Four different players scored at least three times as the Terps routed Navy, 19-6, to advance to the quarterfinals.

The Terps scored the last six goals of the first half, turning a 6-2 lead into a 12-2 rout by halftime. Junior attacker Kristy Black scored the first two goals of the game, getting them within nine seconds of each other, and the blowout was on. Attacker Sarah Mollison had four goals and four assists, while Black, midfielder Laura Merrifield and midfielder Bria Phillips had three goals apiece. Midfielder Kathy Young had three goals to lead Navy.

The Terps will play either No. 8 seed James Madison or Princeton in the quarterfinals next weekend. Maryland moves to 19-1 on the year as it looks to defend last season's championship. Navy ends the season 15-6.
