Bubba Watson is playing really well at the 2011 U.S. Open, and he can maybe thank his attire for that. Watson, who is tied for the early lead at three-under par, is wearing camouflage pants and a star-spangled banner belt for his first round on Thursday.
I suppose the stated effect is that it allows him to blend into the surroundings a little bit more, in case there's someone that wants to attack him or something. It's certainly more bold than Davis Love III's pink-pants and blue-striped shirt look that he showed off at Congressional earlier in the day. Whatever the motives, it's hard for anyone to really complain, given the way he's been playing recently.
I was already rooting for Watson because of this. Now, I'm really rooting for him.
UPDATE: Apparently he's doing it to raise money for military families.
