The 2011 Legg Mason Tennis Classic will begin in earnest on Monday after qualifying wrapped up over the weekend. French tennis star Gael Monfils assumes the No. 1 overall seed with the withdrawal of Andy Roddick, while surging American Mardy Fish will be the No. 2 seed. Neither player will be in action on Monday, though, since all 16 seeded players receive byes to the second round.
Therefore, the unseeded players will headline Monday's schedule. James Blake, once one of the top American players in the world, is the man to watch on Monday night, as he will take on Japanese player Tatsuma Ito at around 7 p.m. on the stadium court at Willing H.G. Fitzgerald Tennis Center on 16th Street. Here is the rest of Monday's singles schedule.
