NFL Free Agency Rumors: Redskins Sign LB Keyaron Fox

The Washington Redskins continue to remain busy in free agency, with reports indicating the Skins have signed ex-Pittsburgh Steeler linebacker Keyaron Fox. The 6-foot-3, 235 pound Fox was a backup inside linebacker and the special teams captain for the Steelers the past two seasons. Fox was the backup to Steelers' linebackers James Farrior and Lawrence Timmons, and therefore saw the field much more on special teams than defense the past two years.

An eight year NFL veteran, Fox has only started seven games in his career. His best year statistically came in 2006 with the Kansas City Chiefs, when Fox played in all 16 games, starting four, and finishing with 43 tackles and one sack.

Fox's signing came hours after the team announced it would waive veteran linebacker Robert Henson, and it appears likely this move means the team has moved away from ex-Seahawks LB Lofa Totupu, who Washington spoke with late last week. It is possible Fox will be competing for a job at inside linebacker with the newly re-signed Rocky McIntosh and second-year man Perry Riley.
