Week 1 NFL Scores And Results: Cowboys Give Game Away Late To Jets

For most of the Sunday Night affair between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Jets, it seemed like the Redskins' hated rivals from the Lone Star State had the game in the bag. They took a 14-point lead into the fourth quarter, and while not spectacular, their offense had shown the ability to score against the Jets when they needed to.

But then it all started to fall apart. Their offense slowed to a crawl as Tony Romo just couldn't get it out to the receivers the same way he had before. Dez Bryant, who was his favorite target early in the game and the recipient of the first touchdown of the night, started to cramp and wasn't a factor for the rest of the evening. When the Cowboys needed a completion most, Romo looked in his direction, but threw an interception to Darrelle Revis that set up the eventual game-winning touchdown.

When it was all said and done, the Cowboys blew their first fourth-quarter 14-point lead in franchise history and were forced to leave Gotham with a 27-24 loss to the Jets. So if you were to look at the NFC East standings today, the Redskins would be tied for first with the Eagles at 1-0, and the Cowboys would be tied for dead last with the Giants at 0-1. Just saying.
