The Maryland Terrapins host the West Virginia Mountaineers in College Park this weekend in a battle of two rivals.
The Maryland Terrapins had the week off, but they face a very early test in rival West Virginia, who is ranked at in the Top 20 of both major polls. This could be a very good opportunity for the Terps to get another marquee win early in the season which could get them into the top 25.
It will be the first opportunity for the Terps to see the West Virginia offense under new head coach Dana Holgorsen. Holgorsen was the architect of the Oklahoma State offense for the last few years that ran wild in the Big 12. It will be a very difficult test for a Maryland defense that looked not particularly impressive against Miami. They got the job doen, but they didn't blow any socks off.
It might be easier for the Maryland offense to move the ball against the Mountaineer defense than it was against Miami. The Hurricanes were missing a lot of their best players on defense but they still had a lot of athletes to throw at the Terps. West Virginia has a good defensive unit, but they won't have the same kind of athletes.
