Navy Vs. South Carolina Final Score: Midshipmen Fall Just Short In 24-21 Loss

Stay connected for news and updates

Navy gave a valiant effort, but in the end, they could not pull the upset against No. 10 South Carolina. Navy's last-gasp effort late in the fourth quarter ended when Kriss Proctor was intercepted on fourth down, and the Gamecocks escaped with a 24-21 win in Columbia on Saturday night.

The Gamecocks won the game because of one man: Marcus Lattimore. Lattimore rushed for 246 yards on the game, and his third touchdown gave South Carolina a 24-21 lead with 12:45 remaining. South Carolina had a chance to put the game away on the ensuing drive, but they failed to convert a fourth down in the red zone. Navy took the ball back and converted a miracle fourth and 15, but simply had too much ground to overcome.

Navy falls to 2-1 on the year, while South Carolina improves to 3-0. Even in defeat, though, Navy proved they were a formidable foe.
