The first Saturday of college football is upon us, in all it's glory. Let's take a quick look at scores from the Atlantic Coast Conference teams in action, or who have already finished:
Finals scores:
Northwestern vs. Boston College: Backup quarterback Kain Colter had 199 yards through the air and 71 yards on the ground as the Wildcats defeated the Eagles 24-17 in both team's season opener. BC wide receiver Ifeanyi Momah caught eight passes for 171 yards in the loss. Visit BC Interruption and SB Nation Boston for more on Boston College. Visit Sippin on Purple and SB Nation Chicago for more on Northwestern.
Appalachian State vs. No. 13 Virginia Tech: The Hokies had absolutely no trouble in the season opener this year, building a 38-0 halftime lead on their way to a 66-13 victory of Appy State. Four turnovers and a beast named David Wilson spelled doom for the Mountaineers. Wilson rushed for 162 yards and three touchdowns on just 16 carries, leading a Hokie ground assault that finished with 256 yards on 45 carries. Visit Gobbler Country for more on the Hokies.
Games just kicked off:
Louisiana Monroe vs. No. 6 Florida State: Five minutes into the game, the Seminoles and Warhawks remain scoreless. Do not expect that to remain the case for long. Visit Tomahawk Nation for more on Florida State.
James Madison vs. North Carolina: The Tar Heels have jumped on JMU early, via a Bryn Renner to Dwight Jones 34 yard touchdown pass. Visit Carolina March for more on North Carolina.
Troy vs. Clemson: Clemson jumped out to an early 10-0 lead, but Troy has fought back and the score stands 10-7 as the second quarter fast approaches. Visit Shakin the Southland for more on Clemson.
