Hurricanes Vs. Capitals: Sluggish First Period Ends Scoreless

Stay connected for news and updates

The Carolina Hurricanes are playing in the second of back-to-back games Sunday, but it is the Washington Capitals who look sleepy as the game is scoreless after 20 minutes.

Carolina earned 13 of the period's 17 shots on goal as it saw the best scoring chances. Cam Ward made four saves and was barely challenged by Washington.

The Hurricanes had one power play, but did not convert.

Tomas Vokoun's 13 saves kept the Caps in the game.
