For the second straight game, the Wizards came out and competed well against a superior opponent from the Western Conference. On Friday night, however, Washington would run out of gas in the second half and fall to the Denver Nuggets 108-104. Denver tries to blitz you, constantly attacking with a deep rotation full of speed. The Wizards held their own through the first half, shooting better than 50 percent from the floor and pouring in 63 points in 24 minutes.
But Denver immediately regained control at the start of the second half, jumping back on top. Washington fought back in it, but a slew of sloppy possessions down the stretch cost them. Nick Young led the Wizards with 25 points, while John Wall added a double-double with 13 points and 10 assists. Jordan Crawford hit some threes early, and finished with 18 but took some bad shots in the fourth quarter.
Washington will have Saturday off before the Boston Celtics visit Verizon Center on Sunday afternoon. The Wizards played the aging Celts tough earlier this season in Boston, so here's hoping they can get their third win of the season.

After one half at the Verizon Center, the Washington Wizards lead the Denver Nuggets 63-61. With John Wall leading Washington, and George Karl's preferred up-and-down pace with a deep rotation, it was expected to be a high-scoring affair with plenty of shots. Nick Young led the Wizards with 17 points but was holding his left wrist and in some pain as the teams walked off the floor at the end of the half.
Javale McGee and John Wall both had nine points each, as the Wizards shot better than 50 percent from the floor and drilled eight of 12 attempts from behind the arc. The Wizards spread it around in the first half, distributing 19 assists - very uncharacteristic so far this season.
They will look to continue the hot shooting in the second half and notch their second straight win over a quality Western Conference opponent.

The Washington Wizards will host the Denver Nuggets at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C. on Friday night. The Washington Wizards could come into this game with an air of, dare I say, confidence after beating the Thunder in their building during the week, and they are certainly a better team than the Nuggets. If they can beat the Thunder, why not the Nuggets?

The Washington Wizards are in for a tough matchup tonight against the Denver Nuggets, but things just got a little bit easier, according to this report from J. Michael Falgoust. The Nuggets will probably be without their starting center Nene.
Karl says #Nene likely will sit tonight vs #Wizards bc of bruised heel. Fernandez is a gametime decision #nba#Nuggets
Nene is one of the most difficult matchups in the NBA because he combines size, strength, athleticism and a smooth offensive game. He has been averaging 13.5 ppg and nearly nine rebounds. It will be much easier tonight for the Wizards now that they don't have to deal with Nene.
