Capitals Vs. Hurricanes: Hurricanes Blow Past Caps In 3-0 Victory

The Washington Capitals had played two consecutive 3-0 games this week entering Friday's game against the Carolina Hurricanes. The third time was definitely not the charm.

Jussi Jokinen scored twice as the Carolina Hurricanes blew past the Caps 3-0 at RBC Center.

Jokinen had a goal in both the first and second period and his shorthanded breakaway goal at 12:43 of the opening period was all the Hurricanes would need. The Caps had three power plays on the night, but only mustered one shot. Meanwhile, the Hurricanes had three shorthanded shots on goal.

Tomas Vokoun suffered his second 3-0 defeat in a row despite single-handedly keeping Washington within striking distance with 30 saves. Yet, for the second straight game, Vokoun did not receive any goal support.

Friday's win was Carolina's first regulation victory over Washington since December 28, 2009. The Caps now head to Pittsburgh to face the Penguins in the final game of a three-game road trip Sunday.
