The George Washington Colonials (8-11, 3-2 A-10) have climbed above .500 in conference play courtesy of the deadeye shooting of Nemanja Mikic. Mikic poured in 19 points as George Washington defeated visiting Charlotte 60-52 Saturday night at the Charles E. Smith Center. The Colonials have now won two straight games, and three of four, after a brutal stretch that saw them lose nine of their previous 10 contests.
Mikic was seven of 11 from the floor, including three of five from three point range, and chipped in three rebounds as well. He scored seven straight points in a 12-3 second half run that was the difference in the game.
The 49ers (10-8, 2-3) were led by Chris Braswell, who finished the game with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Charlotte led George Washington by 12 points at one time in the first half, but were outscored 38-27 in the second half. The 49ers are now 2-3 in conference play after starting the year 2-0 in the Atlantic 10.
