The Navy Midshipmen will put a true freshman under center to run the triple option for the first time since 1991 as Keenan Reynolds takes the reins of the offense in the team's Friday night matchup against the Central Michigan Chippewas.
Reynolds led game-tying and game-winning drives in last week's overtime win against Air Force, the team's first victory against FBS competition on the season. Although Navy QB's aren't typically big throwers due to the team's triple option, Reynolds is 10-for-13 in his time on the season and has busted out runs of 30 and 15 yards in his limited action. Miller is apparently comfortable at making the right reads in Ken Niumatalolo's offense, which is impressive this early in his career.
The Mids take on Central Michigan, who looked like they were in for a good season after knocking off a Big Ten squad in Iowa on the road Week 3, but have since regressed: they've allowed 50 points in back-to-back losses to Northern Illinois and Toledo. Navy probably won't put up those types of numbers - the 28 points they scored last week was their first time scoring more than ten points on the season - but perhaps putting Reynolds under center is the offensive spark the team needed.
Here's how to watch Friday night's game:
