2012 AHL schedule: Hershey Bears to start season Saturday night

The Hershey Bears will open the 2012 regular season on Saturday night.

The Washington Capitals AHL affiliate, the Hershey Bears, will begin the 2012 regular season on Saturday night when the club travels to Syracuse to challenge the Crunch.

Following the opener, the Bears will play another road game when they travel to Binghamton to challenge the Senators next Friday. The game will mark the first of a packed weekend, which concludes with consecutive home games on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday night will mark the Bears return to Hershey when they host the Rochester Americans. On Sunday, they will play an early evening game against Binghamton.

With the NHL lockout closing in on the one month mark, the American Hockey League will act as one of the few outlets for professional hockey in North America.

Listed below is the Bears schedule over the first two weeks of the season:

Saturday, Oct. 13: at Syracuse
Friday, Oct. 19: at Binghamton
Saturday, Oct. 20: vs. Rochester
Sunday, Oct. 21: vs. Binghamton
