2012 bowl game projections: Virginia Tech picked for Music City Bowl

Examining the most recent bowl game projections for Virginia Tech and the rest of the nation's top programs.

Following another busy week of college football action, Jerry Palm of CBS Sports has updated his bowl game predictions for the 2012 season.

The Virginia Tech Hokies were picked by Palm to reach the Music City Bowl on Dec. 31 in Nashville. The Hokies would play the Vanderbilt Commodores in a battle of ACC and SEC foes.

As for the national championship game, he has the Alabama Crimson Tide facing the Kansas St. Wildcats. In the other BCS games, the Oklahoma Sooners and Boise St. Broncos would meet in Glendale for the Fiesta Bowl. The Florida Gators would take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers and USC Trojans would play for the Rose Bowl in the annual Big 10 vs. Pac-12 showdown. The Orange Bowl would pit ACC champion Florida State against Big East champion Louisville.
