The Washington Wizards waived two players -- guard Steven Gray and forward Shavlik Randolph -- from their roster, the team announced Saturday.

The Washington Wizards announced on Saturday that the team waived guard Steven Gray and forward Shavlik Randolph, which leaves the Wizards with 17 players.

The limit on NBA rosters is 15 players. If the Wizards can stay healthy, they have enough talent to lead them to the playoffs. Part of the key to that is having quality depth.

Gray (6'4, Gonzaga) appeared in two games averaging 1.5 points in eight total minutes. Randolph (6'10, Duke) appeared in five games averaging 2.2 points and 3.0 rebounds in 10.0 minutes per contest.

The season opens next Tuesday on the road against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Wizards just finished up their preseason schedule with a loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Friday. Given the Wizards' unfortunate history with injuries, several key players rested during the Spurs game. John Wall, Nene, Emeka Okafor, Kevin Seraphin, Jannero Pargo and Trevor Ariza were all left on the bench.
