Maryland will use two field goal kickers in upcoming games

Howard Smith-US PRESSWIRE

Maryland plans to use two field goal kickers in its remaining games this season. Brendan Magistro will take the short kick attempts while Brad Craddock will take the longer attempts.

The Maryland Terrapins will use two field goals kickers in their upcoming games this season. With offense at a premium, the Terps are scoring 20.8 points per game, which ranks 104th in the nation. Maryland can't afford to give away points on missed field goals.

Freshman Brendan Magistro made his debut on Saturday in Maryland's 20-17 loss to Boston College. Magistro made one field goal from 28 yards out and also successfully converted two extra points. Brad Craddock, also a freshman, is 4-for-6 on field goals from 40-plus yards this season, but just 4-for-8 on field goals under 40 yards. Craddock has also missed two extra points out of 17 attempts this season.

The decision to make the new field goal kicking arrangement by head coach Randy Edsall occurred after the loss to the Eagles. Craddock was 0-for-1 in the loss, missing from 35 yards with Maryland trailing 7-0 in the first quarter.
