Redskins to air Game 1 of Nats NLDS series on FedEx Field TVs Sunday

The Redskins tell Dan Steinberg of the Washington Post that Game 1 of the NLDS will be shown on TVs around FedEx Field.

Game 1 of the NLDS between the Washington Nationals and an as-yet-unknown opponent is set to get underway at 3:07 p.m. Sunday. This start time will more-or-less roughly coincide with third quarter action between the Washington Redskins and Atlanta Falcons at FedEx Field. This is more or less the nightmare scenario fans of both teams feared would come to pass, and since the Nats' schedule overlaps that of the postseason's prime-time darling (the New York Yankees), the scheduling of the first two games was a fait accompli by the time Friday's announcement came down.

The Redskins, meanwhile, were presented with an unprecedented situation: whether or not to make the TBS broadcasts of the Nationals playoff games available to fans via the TVs in the concourses and in certain parts of the stands. Remember, since the Redskins came to the area for the 1937, they have never had to share the spotlight with a contending baseball team in October. (The Senators' last postseason appearance was in 1933.)

Happily, good sense prevailed, as the Post's Dan Steinberg tweeted Friday afternoon.

Buckle up, folks. Should be a fun Sunday.
