Howard vs. Iowa recap: Bison get bullied, lose to Hawkeyes, 66-36

Iowa cruised to a 66-36 victory over Howard on Thursday night.

The Howard Bison fell to 0-2 as they were manhandled by the Iowa Hawkeyes, 66-36, on the road on Thursday night.

Iowa's Roy Devyn Marble posted a game-high 22 points, along with two rebounds and two assists. As a team, the Hawkeyes shot 45.8 percent from the field.

Forward Mike Phillips led the Bison with 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting as Howard struggled overall, shooting only 26.5 percent from the floor for the game. Phillips was the only player to hit double-digits in scoring for Howard.

The Hawkeyes took a 36-16 lead into the halftime break. The Bison shot a paltry 24.0 percent from the floor, making only six field goals in the opening twenty minutes of play. Phillips led the team in scoring for the half with seven points.

Iowa, on the other hand, shot 50.0 percent from the field as all five starters scored in the half. Devyn Marble, a junior, led the team at the halfway point with 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor.
