The Howard Bison fell to 0-4 after losing to the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs 55-43 in the Cancun Challenge at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun, Mexico. In a slow-paced first half, the Bison only scored 15 points and trailed by seven at the break.

Howard got 15 points from Alphonso Leary, who was the only member of the Bison to score in double figures. Howard was outrebounded 29-18 and had only four assists to 18 turnovers in the game. Simuel Frazier had seven steals, but also turned the ball over seven times.

Gardner-Webb was led by Donta Harper, who had 16 points, nine rebounds, six assists and three steals.

Howard lost in the Mayan Division bracket and will play the Western Carolina Catamounts on Wednesday, Nov. 21 at 1:30 p.m. ET. Western Carolina lost to the Austin Peay Governors 72-71 earlier on Tuesday. Gardner-Webb and Austin Peay will play on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET.
