The Hokies and Cavaliers are tied at 7-7 through the first half of play.
The Virginia Cavaliers and Virginia Tech Hokies are tied at halftime, 7-7.
Logan Thomas completed a 7-yard touchdown pass to Randall Dunn early in the second quarter, giving Virginia Tech a 7-0 lead.
The Cavaliers responded with 3:30 left to go in the half, when Michael Rocco completed a 42-yard touchdown pass to Tim Smith, tying the game at 7-7. Despite the touchdown pass, though, Thomas has had a rough first half for the Hokies. He has completed just 8-of-22 passes for 55 yards. Thomas has carried the ball 10 times as well, gaining 31 yards on the ground.
Rocco has had a tough time as well, completing just 9-of-18 passes for 114 yards.
Neither team fared well on third down in the first half, with Virginia converting just 3-of-9 third down attempts, and Virginia Tech converting 3-of-12.
The two teams combined for 14 punts in the first half of play, with Virginia Tech punter A.J. Hughes pinning the Cavaliers within their own 20-yard line three times already.
