The Wizards fell behind early in the game, trailing by 14 points at the end of the first quarter. The team whittled away at the lead during the second and third quarters, outscoring Boston by nine over that stretch. Kevin Seraphin sank a jump shot with 2:56 left to put Washington up 86-84, but Paul Pierce drilled a three-point shot on the next possession to put the Celtics up for good.
Jordan Crawford led all Washington scorers with 21 points off the bench, shooting 8-14 from the floor and 2-4 beyond the arc. Kevin Seraphin also had a strong performance off the bench for the Wizards, scoring 19 points and collecting seven rebounds. The Washington starters did not play as well as their bench did, as the starters only scored 24 of Washington's 86 points on the night. Trevor Booker led all starters with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while A.J. Price was the second leading scorer in the starting rotation with eight points.
Pierce led the Celtics with 27 points, collecting seven rebounds and three assists as well. Kevin Garnett chipped in 15 points for the Celtics, while Rajon Rondo picked up his third double-double in three games with 12 points and 12 assists.
