As their respective quarterbacks are off to slow starts, Virginia Tech and Florida State are tied at 3 after the first.

Looking to get back to the .500 mark on the season, the Virginia Tech Hokies are hosting the Florida State Seminoles and the two teams are tied, 3-3, after the first quarter on Thursday night.

The No. 10 Seminoles (8-1, 5-1 in the ACC) got the scoring started off for the evening when Dustin Hopkins drilled a 52-yard field goal to cap Florida State's opening nine-play, 48-yard drive.

Virginia Tech (4-5, 2-3 ACC) would respond with a field goal on the following drive, as Cody Journell knocked in a 35-yarder to complete the Hokies' eight-play, 60-yard march.

Both signal-callers are struggling out of the gate, as Hokies quarterback Logan Thomas is off to slow start, already throwing an interception in the frame, going 3-of-8 for 56 yards overall so far.

On the other side, Florida State's EJ Manuel has thrown an interception of his own, as he is 6-of-12 for 93 yards after the first quarter.
