The Virginia Tech Hokies fell behind the Florida State Seminoles by double-digits, but closed the gap as the third quarter wound down. The Hokies now trail the Seminoles, 20-17, heading into the fourth.
After Hokies safety Michael Cole was taken off the field in an ambulance for precautionary reasons after suffering a neck strain, Seminoles quarterback E.J. Manuel connected with wide receiver Greg Dent for a 10-yard touchdown pass to give Florida State the 20-10 lead.
On the following drive, however, Hokies quarterback Logan Thomas completed an eight-play, 80-yard drive himself by rushing in for the touchdown from five yards out, trimming the Seminoles' lead to 20-17 as the quarter came to a close.
Florida State's touchdown was the result of a fumble by Virginia Tech wide receiver Marcus Davis. The Seminoles' Vince Williams recovered at the Hokies' 49-yard line.
Each team now has an interception and a fumble lost.
