The Maryland Terrapins hung tough for a half, but could not keep up in the second half in a 73-55 loss to the Duke Blue Devils. The Terps fall to 14-10 on the year, 4-6 in the ACC.
Once again, the Maryland Terrapins went to the half locked in a tight battle with a conference foe, and once again the Terps fell short in the second half. Maryland trailed 32-29 at Cameron Indoor Stadium to the Duke Blue Devils, but were outscored 41-26 in the second half on their way to a 73-55 loss. With the defeat, Maryland falls to 14-10 on the year and 4-6 in ACC play.
Point guard Pe'Shon Howard was missed by Maryland. Howard tore his ACL on Thursday in practice, and without him the Terrapins turned the ball over 13 times while amassing just eight assists. Terrell Stoglin scored 13 points for Maryland, but was just four of 16 from the floor, and at one point was benched by coach Mark Turgeon. Nick Faust chipped in 15 points for the Terrapins.
The Blue Devils were led by the brothers Plumlee, Mason and Miles. Miles grabbed a whopping 22 rebounds for Duke, chipping in 13 points as well. Mason added 16 points and 10 boards.

I would never declare myself a fashion maven, but I do not think much of the new Nike platinum uniforms the Duke Blue Devils are wearing today in their matchup with the Maryland Terrapins. Duke is one of seven teams wearing the new Nike duds, which, according to the press release, are "designed at the intersection of sustainability and performance."
All righty then. After the jump, judge for yourself whether the Duke uniforms are ugly or futuristically fresh.
The Maryland Terrapins, losers of 10 of their last 11 games against Duke, trail the Blue Devils 32-29 at halftime at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Maryland has lost their last four games in Durham.
The Blue Devils struggled out of the gate, perhaps exhibiting a letdown after their emotional win over North Carolina in their last game. The Terrapins were able to jump out to a 10-3 lead as the Blue Devils struggled, but Duke quickly righted the ship.
Maryland has been led by guard Terrell Stoglin, who has 11 points, despite shooting just three of eight from the floor in the half.
The Plumee boys, Miles and Mason, have paced Duke, totaling 17 points and 15 rebounds between them.

The Maryland Terrapins (14-9, 4-5 ACC), coming off a road win Tuesday over Clemson, head to Cameron Indoor Stadium on Saturday afternoon looking to steal a win from the Duke Blue Devils (20-4, 7-2).
Maryland ending an eight-game road losing streak with their 64-62 win over Clemson on Tuesday night. Terrell Stoglin was an extremely efficient nine of 11 from the floor, scoring 27 points for the Terps. Maryland also clamped down defensively, holding the Tigers to just 34.9 percent shooting.
No. 9 Duke is coming off an epic win over hated rival North Carolina on Wednesday night. The Blue Devils, down 10 with two and a half minutes left in the game, rallied to win 85-84 behind freshman Austin River's three point basket as the final horn sounded. Rivers finished the game with 29 points.
Duke has won 10 of their last 11 games against Maryland, including four straight at Cameron Indoor.

The Maryland men's basketball team broke some bad news Friday evening as it prepared to head down to Tobacco Road to take on the No. 9 Duke Blue Devils. From Eric Prisbell of The Washington Post's Terrapins Insider blog:
Mark Turgeon says
#Terps guard Pe'Shon Howard has a torn ACL, will require six months of recovery. More to come.
Prisbell's Post colleague Liz Clarke added the following detail.
MD starting point guard Pe'Shon Howard expected to miss rest of season after tearing ACL in right knee in practice Thursday. Huge setback.
It's a blow for the sophomore, who was averaging nearly 33 minutes per game this season for Mark Turgeon. It also puts that much more pressure on Terrell Stoglin, who will have even more of a burden to bear as Maryland's primary scorer and ball-handler. Saturday's game tips off at 4 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN.

Maryland Vs. Duke: Terrell Stoglin Upset With Being Benched
The Maryland Terrapins, after trailing by just three at halftime, were defeated 73-55 at Cameron Indoor Stadium by the Duke Blue Devils. Terrapins guard Terrell Stoglin scored 13 points in the game, but shot just four of 16 from the floor (zero for six from three point land). It was pretty clear that Maryland head coach Mark Turgeon benched Stoglin at one point in the second half, perhaps for forcing some tough shots. Whatever the reason for the benching, Stoglin was not happy about it. Minutes after the game, this tweet appeared on his official twitter feed:
In case Stoglin wises up and deletes the tweet, here it is in picture form for posterity's sake:
Perhaps next time the Maryland guard will keep his frustration to himself, and not publicly announce it via Twitter just minutes after a tough conference loss.
