Venus Williams and Serena Williams To Play for Washington Kastles This Season

The Washington Kastles retain the rights to the two tennis superstars in the upcoming World Team Tennis season.

Feb 14, 2012 - According to a tweet from the official team twitter account, both Venus and Serena Williams will play for the Washington Kastles in the upcoming World Team Tennis season.

It's official! & will be back for the two-time champion Kastles this summer!

This happened during the World Team Tennis marquee draft. The Kastles already had the rights to the two tennis superstars and decided to retain them.

The Kastles were created in 2008, since their inception they have won two league championships. Last season, they went a perfect 16-0 in their matches and won the league championship, something that has never happened in the history of World Team Tennis which dates back to 1974.

The Williams are expected to play matches in the second half of the Kastles schedule before leaving to take part in the London Olympics. The schedule for the season runs through July 9-28. Exact dates and times of Kastles matches are expected to be announced within the next month.
