Top Capitals prospect Evgeny Kuznetsov had to be carted off the ice after suffering a serious injury while playing in the KHL on Friday.
Evgeny Kuznetsov, arguably the top prospect in the Capitals organization, had to be carted off the ice on Friday after suffering what sounds like an extremely painful injury while playing in the KHL.
#Caps' prospect Kuznetsov got seriously injured today in the #KHL; was carried off the ice on a stretcher (via SovSport).

Slava Malamud of Sport-Express then followed up with a couple of tweets reporting that it appears likely that Kuznetsov tore ligaments in his knee and some speculation from his head coach that Kuznetsov might be out for the rest of the Season. All of this, of course, is pending the results of an MRI, which should happen fairly soon.
Here is some more information on the nature of the injury.
Kuznetsov was checked, fell down, was yelling, slamming hands against the ice, was in terrible pain (per @plysenkov).

Kuznetsov was selected late in the first round of the 2010 NHL Draft.
