Patriot League Basketball Tournament 2012: American Gets Knocked Out By Lehigh In Semifinal
The semifinals of the 2012 Patriot League Championship kick off Saturday at 2:00 PM EST when the second-seeded Lehigh Mountain Hawks (24-7, 11-3 Patriot) host the third-seeded American University Eagles (20-10, 10-4).

The Patriot League tournament title chances for the American Eagles went up in smoke on Saturday afternoon, going down to Lehigh 85-66. American trailed Lehigh by just six points at the half, but after halftime the Mountain Hawks soured past the Eagles and ran them out of the gym to put up 51 points in the second half.
American goes down in their semifinal matchup, as Lehigh makes its way to the finals. Lehigh will take on the winner of Lafayette and Bucknell, who play later Saturday afternoon. American entered their match up with Lehigh today on a two-game winning streak, but just couldn't do enough on offense to win.

American advanced to the seminfinals by defeating Army 57-40 on Wednesday night. Lehigh moved on with a 70-57 triumph over Colgate.
The Eagles and Mountain Hawks split their two regular season contests, with each winning on their home floor. This is the fourth time American and Lehigh have met in the postseason, and first since a 79-57 Lehigh win over American in the 2010 conference tournament.
Both teams have had success in the Patriot League, with American winning the conference championship in 2008 and 2009, and Lehigh taking home the crown in 2010.

American University recorded its 20th win of the season and secured a date with Lehigh Saturday by beating the Army Black Knights 57-40 in a Patriot League tournament quarterfinal match-up at Bender Arena Wednesday night.
The No.3-seeded Eagles turned in a truly stifling defense performance, holding Army to 26.7 percent shooting from the field (15-for-57), while allowing the Black Knights to only score 11 points in the first half.
In all, 11 players saw action for the Eagles, with nine playing at least 12 minutes. Daniel Munoz lead American in scoring with 11 points and was the only AU player to reach double figures. For sixth-seeded Army, forward Ella Ellis led the way with 13 points, but with the exception of guard Julian Simmons (9 points) no other Army player scored more than six.
American will next play No.2 seed Lehigh in the Patriot League semifinals at 2 p.m. Saturday at Stabler Arena in Bethlehem, Pa. Leigh punched their ticket to the semifinals with a 70-57 win over seventh-seed Colgate Wednesday.
