That's right, folks, D.C's own Lamont Peterson will get the chance to defend his WBA and IBF light-welterweight title against British boxer Amir "King" Khan in a rematch of their controversial bout this past December at the Washington Convention Center.
A report from British satellite broadcaster Sky Sports claimed that Khan had offered Peterson a "massive deal" to secure the rematch, which will be televised on HBO in the U.S.
The first bout between the two on December 10 ended in controversy when Peterson was declared the winner on points in his hometown. During the fight, Khan was deducted a total of two points for pushing Peterson, while the referee did not score an apparent knockdown in Khan's favor.
The WBA ordered a rematch between the two fighters last month, an edict which Peterson had initially appealed.
