Capitals Vs. Bruins Score Update: Washington Jumps Out Early, Leads Boston 2-1 After First Period

The Washington Capitals, desperately in need of victories and points, got off to a great start Saturday in their matchup with the Boston Bruins. The Capitals lead the Bruins 2-1, scoring both of their goals in a 25 second span.

Alexander Semin scored his 18th goal of the year at the 7:50 mark of the first period. Karl Alzner assisted on the Semin goal. A mere 25 seconds later, Matt Hendricks netted his fourth goal of the season, with assists cedited to Troy Brouwer and Dmitry Orlov.

Washington will be kicking themselves at the intermission, however, after allowing Boston to score with just 5.6 seconds left in the period. Milan Lucic beat Tomas Vokoun for his 23rd goal of the year.

With the exception of the Lucic goal, Tomas Vokoun has been excellent in net in the first period, stopping all 12 of the 13 Bruins shots faced.
