After landing a No. 15 seed in the 2012 NCAA Tournament, the Norfolk State Spartans will be playing No. 2-seeded Missouri to kick things off in their first game. Norfolk State earned an automatic berth to the big dance with a MEAC Tournament Championship Game win over Bethune-Cookman on Saturday. It is the Spartans first-ever NCAA Tournament berth. Norfolk State will now get a shot to pull off an improbable upset against the Tigers.
Missouri, a 30-win conference tournament champion, was in serious consideration for a No. 1 seed, but fell down a seed line on Selection Sunday. The Tigers outperformed expectations all season long, and will look to do so again in March as they try to outscore opponents on a possible run to the Final Four.
