The first weekend of the 2012 NCAA Tournament is in the books and, while the upsets were flying all weekend, the remaining teams in the Sweet 16 are mostly higher seeds. Here are all of the match-ups that will make up the Sweet 16 starting later this week.
The biggest upset of the day was No. 11 seed N.C. State over No. 3 seed Georgetown. The Wolfpack will advance to take on No. 2 seed Kansas in the Midwest region semifinal, while No. 1 seed North Carolina and No. 13 seed Ohio finish out the rest of that region.
The West bracket features two high-seed match-ups. No. 1 Michigan State will face No. 4 Louisville while No. 3 seed Marquette gets No. 7 seed Florida.
The Tournament's No. 1 overall seed, Kentucky, will get a chance to exact a little revenge over No. 4 seed Indiana, a team that dealt them one of their few losses this year. No. 3 seed Baylor and No. 10 seed Xavier finish out that region.
No. 1 seed Syracuse will face No. 4 seed Wisconsin in one of the East region semifinals while No. 6 Cincinnati will play No. 2 Ohio State.

What an amazing couple of days in the 2012 NCAA Tournament. Thursday and Friday in the Round of 64 saw massive upsets and a slew of come-from-behind and last-minute wins. Among the teams enjoying big -- in one case, historic -- upsets were VCU and Norfolk State. On top of all that, Georgetown was also able to advance with ease. There will be plenty for area fans to cheer for ... for one more day, at least.
We've barely had time to catch our breath before the Round of 32 kicks off. Saturday will have eight more matchups and we've got your viewing info for all of them right here. No need to thank us; we do it because we care.
Saturday's games will feature Thursday's winners duking it out to determine who enters the Sweet 16 as we get one day closer to crowning a national champion.

The key to the game will be whether the Hoyas' perimeter defense maintains its effectiveness from its Round of 64 win over Belmont.

The Georgetown Hoyas took care of business in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, breezing past the Belmont Bruins 74-59 Friday afternoon in Columbus.
Jason Clark led the way for the Hoyas, scoring 19 points while shooting an impressive 9-for-12 from the floor and 3-of-5 from behind the arc. Otto Porter chimed in with 16 points and eight rebounds.
Despite shooting just 38 percent from the field, three Bruins scored double figures, led by Blake Jenkins with 17 points.
Georgetown will take on N.C. State in a third round game Sunday.

The Belmont Bruins have been a common upset pick for people looking for upset picks, but the Georgetown Hoyas have shown off their superiority in the first half. Belmont haven't been outclassed by any means, but the Hoyas are hitting shots at a consistent clip and playing very good defense. At halftime, they're up 36-27.
Belmont are 6-15 from three-point range, and it will be concerning for them that they're down by nine points while shooting 40 percent from distance. They don't have much of an answer for Georgetown as a whole, which is surprising considering how average Henry Sims and Hollis Thompson have been. They're shooting 54 percent as a team even though those two players have combined to go 2-10. Jason Clark leads Georgetown with an impressive 13 points on 5-7 shooting.
