NCAA Bracket 2012, NC State Vs. Georgetown Score: Hoyas' Season Ends With 3-Point Loss To Wolfpack

The Georgetown Hoyas' season came to an end Sunday afternoon, when they were bounced out of the NCAA Tournament with a third-round 66-63 loss to North Carolina State. After the Hoyas led by double digits in the first half, the Wolfpack went on a 15-2 run to close out the first half and would never trail again.

Georgetown had just one field goal over a five minute span down the stretch before eventually closing the lead to one-point with thirty seconds to play. Senior center Henry Sims was in foul trouble all day, playing only six minutes in the first half and not scoring his first bucket of the day until the final minute of the game. Sims then drilled two free-throws on the Hoyas' next possession to cut the lead to just one with 35 seconds remaining. After Scott Wood split a pair of free-throws, Georgetown would have a chance to tie it with the ball down two. But Otto Porter could not get the ball to Sims in the post, and settled for a fallaway jumper that was short. NC State controlled the rebound and Lorenzo Brown drilled two free-throws to put the Pack back up four and seal the win. Video of Porter's attempt to tie it below:

In addition to Sims' foul troubles, senior Jason Clark struggled from the floor, hitting just three of 11 shots and finishing with 10 points. Clark had a chance to tie it at the buzzer after Brown missed a free-throw, but his last second attempt was off the mark.

Hollis Thompson led all Hoyas with 23 points but Georgetown was just 32 percent from behind the arc and could never pull even in the second half.
