The Georgetown Hoyas have been invited to play a game on an aircraft carrier next season, likely against San Diego State.

The Georgetown Hoyas won't be playing in the Sweet 16 this weekend, but there are plans in the works for them to play in a pretty high profile game next year. According to CBS Sports the Hoyas are one of a handful of teams invited to play a game on an aircraft carrier next season.

Syndicus Entertainment, in partnership with the San Diego Sports Commission, announced plans Friday for the Battle on the Midway on the flight deck of the USS Midway Museum. The Midway has been berthed on San Diego Bay since 2004. San Diego State and Georgetown are among the teams that have been invited. An announcement confirming the participants isn't expected until after the NCAA tournament.

North Carolina and Michigan State played a game on an aircraft carrier earlier this season, but this game would be put on by a different group.

That would be the the second high profile out of conference game that the Hoyas would be invited to, as they are already selling tickets to the Legends Classic tournament which culminates at the Nets new arena in Brooklyn next year.

The Hoyas would be the second local team to play at the new Barclays Center, as Maryland is already scheduled to face Kentucky on November 9 in the Barclays Center Classic.
