BALLSTON, Va. - Washington Capitals goaltender Tomas Vokoun did not practice with the team Saturday at Kettler Capitals Iceplex and is listed as "day-to-day" with a lower-body injury, according to a team spokesman.
Vokoun has not played since February 22 in a losing effort to the Ottawa Senators. Michal Neuvirth has played in the last four games for Washington, including Friday's 5-0 loss to the New Jersey Devils when he allowed five goals on just 20 shots, including three on seven shots in the first period. When asked after the game why he did not pull Neuvirth in favor of Vokoun, head coach Dale Hunter said he wanted Neuvirth to "battle through it." Yet, it seems now that Vokoun's injury is what really kept Neuvirth in the game.
With Vokoun out, Washington's Director of Media Relations, Sergey Kocharov, is in goal at practice.
